Ripalta and Cartoceto
lands of battles and brigands,
of conquered freedom and fertile territories
where hard-working arms found an ideal habitat.
Going up from Fano to the Metauro Valley, after few kilometres, we reach Cartoceto.
Placed at 225 metres above sea level, immersed in the climate of Marche, surrounded by an amazing landscape where we enjoy the view of the Metauro Valley.
The tuffaceous territory is particularly suitable for vine and olive cultivation. The most important vines are the Bianchello of Metauro and the Sangiovese dal cannello lungo. Among the olives stands out the “Raggiola” esteemed for the excellent oil.

Cartoceto
Some historians date back the origin of Cartoceto and the surrounding towns, to the Carthaginians survived
of the battle on Metauro River (207 a.C.), who would escape capture and carnage taking shelter in the woods on the right side of Metauro River, while others, would cross the river and hidden themselves on the hills above the Valley, at that time a thick forest. As they were unable to come back home, they would settle in this area creating the first families. So Cartoceto derives from “Carchidon” or “Carthada”, the Greek name of Carthage, or from the latin “Carthaginensium”, group of Carhaginians, from which Carticetum.
